About this trip

On the Indonesian island of Java, in the province of Central Java, is the dormant stratovolcano known as Mount Merbabu. The Javanese terms Meru, which means “mountain,” and awu or abu, which means “ash,” can be combined to form the name Merbabu, which can be loosely translated as “Mountain of Ash.”

The settlement of Salatiga is situated in its northern foothills, just south-east of the nearby Mount Merapi, an active volcano. Between Merbabu and Merapi, where the settlement of Selo, Java, and exceptionally productive farming area are located, is a 1,500m-high broad saddle.

Itinerary

0600pm: Pickup from Jogja Airport, Dinner and Straight to SELO Basecamp

0500 am: Wake up and preparation 0600 am: Breakfast and registration 0800 am: Start trekking (8 hrs) 0400 pm: Arrive Savana 1 campsite and will camping here for the night 0600 pm: Sunset watching at Savana 1 and Dinner 0700 pm: Briefing and rest

0300 am: Supper and summit attack 0500 am: Arrive at summe 0600 am: Start to descend 0800 am: Arrive Savana 1 campsite, breakfast and prepare to descend 1000 am: Start descending to starting point 0400 pm: Arrive at starting point 0430 pm: Stay and rest at basecamp 0700 pm: Dinner 1000 pm: Transport pickup and depart to Mount Prau Base Camp

0200 am: Arrive at Mount Prau Basecamp 0300 am: Start to hike to Mount Prau for sunrise 0600 am: Arrive summit of Mount Prau 0900 am: Start to descend 1100 am: Arrive Mount Prau basecamp 0100 pm: Transport to hotel or Jogja airport
